Water, for me, brings back memories of cherished friends and family. Water is best when shared.
My fascination with water started in my teenage days, when I would sit on the rocks at Senasqua Park in Croton, NY with my friends, gaze across the mighty Hudson River at the mountains to the West, and fantasize about traveling far beyond them—all the way to California (which was as far as I could envision going at that age!).
When I became a mother, we would spend many summers on Cape Cod, often in Brewster, MA, on the Bay side. My two small children could safely wade far, far out and the water would still barely skim their waists. They would search for hermit crabs and other surprises for hours on end (see picture above).
Now my kids are grown, but I share many adventures with my girlfriends and water is often the focal point—from a fabulous Caribbean cruise I took a couple of years ago with a dear friend on the Regent Seven Seas Explorer to a weekend getaway last summer with four "sisters" at a charming B&B within walking distance of Nauset Beach (the one where the sharks like to hang out) in Orleans, MA.
